Following on from my previous homoeopathic posts, I wanted to share some of the most amazing miracles I have experienced in my career. Most cases came to me only after modern medicine offered no hope. This is what makes them so memorable.
Poisoning 1 – I was once called out to a horse stud, where a number of horses had died from ingesting the core of the native balga (grass tree) plant, which is deadly to horses.
The farmer had called a vet who had proceeded to euthanaze the first horses as they had become paralyzed. I was really flying blind on this occasion (as I usually am in such cases) but decided to use a combination of homoeopathy’s best chemical detoxes – this was a blend of Nux Vomica, Belladonna and Lachesis, all in a 30c potency. I sat with the horses because I love them and my heart was breaking as I really doubted I could do much, and while I spoke to them and administered a few doses over the following few hours, I showed the farmer what to do – repeating dosage every hour as possible during the night, and remove the mobile horses from the paddock which had the chewed grass trees. The horses were in a bad way – unable to move more than their heads, with red eyes (which indicated belladonna). I also advised him if they showed distress or no change occurred by morning, to please call the vet as it was just too cruel to prolong.
Imagine my surprise in the morning when he called to advise me both horses were up and walking around! The whites of their eyes had cleared and even though their gait was wobbly, they were on the mend. I spoke to him the following day and all horses were back to normal. It’s cases like this that remind me that my career path was 100% spot on.
Poisoning 2 – After losing two of my much loved dogs to 1080 baiting, it was something that filled me with dread and fear – and the need to find answers. I was terrified one day when our dog had been out at work and returned with the same tell-tale symptoms – his eyes were red, he was unsteady on his feet, disorientation, drooling, vomiting and early symptoms of seizures had begun. I was afraid I would not have answers as we were some way from a vet clinic and I just didn’t know what to do. As with the horse poisoning story, I gave Horse (the dog) a small dose every 15 minutes and watched him. I had to wait until my then husband returned from work as he had our car. He was instructed to give the medicine every 15 minutes as I had done, while on his way to the vet clinic, over half an hour away. The vet called me 3 hours later to ask what I’d done, and was I sure he’d been baited. He’d taken all the steps to open Horse’s airway, inserted an IV to administer the meds – anti spasmodic and anti emetic yet within half an hour Horse was back to normal. He kept him in for observation but released him a few hours later. If I had known this when my two beautiful labradors were baited my life would have been very different – and they would have actually been able to grow into old dogs.
Poisoning 3 – Existing patients called in a panic as their much loved cat had been bitten by a snake. Again, I had no idea what to do but as the vet was some way away and it was the middle of the night, I advised them to use the combination of Belladonna, Nux Vomica and Lachesis, 2 drops every hour directly into her mouth. I received a call in the morning to say that the cat had stopped vomiting but was wobbly – I called every few hours and by that evening she was back to normal with no signs of illness. Just hours before she was suffering seizures, vomiting and rolling around uncontrollably. They would not have known she had been bitten if they had not seen it happen! She would not be alive if they hadn’t been there.
Poisoning 4 – A patient called to say she had been bitten by a redback spider on her head, had been experiencing dizziness, nausea and vomiting, pain and the site had begun oozing black blood/pus. The doctor had advised anti biotics but said they didn’t know if they could do much more. She did not contact me until weeks after the bite and I feared that the toxicity had set in and perhaps result in long term issues as redback bites are prone to do. I commenced her on the same combination as above. The excretion became clear and stopped altogether, as did the pain. It took over a week to clear up but that was understandable considering the delay. She has had no further related issues since the bite.
These are only a few of the many miracles I have seen in my career. There are many more – if you would like to read more, about any health issue, please just ask.
