PAIN – why do we have it and what can we do?

PAIN – the word itself sparks fear into the toughest specimens. And while it keeps pharma rolling in dough to the tune of billions annually, it also is the crux of millions of cases of addiction – with not a cure in sight. And by then, the addiction becomes the issue, rather than what actually caused the pain in the first place.

Aside from mechanical injury or obvious triggers such as labour, what is pain? Basically, it is a side effect of inflammation. Inflammation causes swelling, acid and chemical deposits in areas they are not natural – hence the pain.

How interesting then, now that syndromes such as Chronic Fatigue are being drawn into the medical and pharma game, companies such as Pfizer are advertising for a blatant money grab on our TVs. Doctors, who just months ago laughed and dismissed such pain as psychosomatic; treatable only with anti depressants and addictive pain relief, are now ‘recognising’ your pain and using it to make even more money – and by the end of it, still no explanation – or cure.

Despite being a natural health professional, I was first and foremost a nurse. I would never be so ignorant to dismiss a very real need for analgesia. Patients were often surprised at being told during a consult that I recommended pharmaceutical pain relief. I am no stranger to pain – having broken a bone in my neck, having had numerous fractures, difficult labour and migraines over the years, I firmly believe that healing from anything is impossible with too much pain – it is simply hindered. And many people are unable to escape pain – due to congenital issues, poor healing of injuries and so on.

However, I have seen an astounding number of chronic pain and inflammatory issues removed with natural methods. A large percentage of this would be due to dietary changes. Many foods are inflammatory and many foods are healing. Firstly it is up to you to remove foods you know you have a sensitivity to.

This usually involves acidic foods –

Remove these and often pain will go. Please see more on my pH correct diet posts on this blog.

Many therapies exist to remove or reduce pain. Cupping is a therapy which can easily be performed at home  — please inbox me for more details. I have seen appalling injuries and pain removed with this simple therapy. Likewise with osteopathy and chiropractic – decades long cases of pain ca become a thing of the past.

Gentle measures such as aromatherapy and massage are often helpful – and acupuncture, especially if done with electrical stimulation, can correct the most chronic of cases.

Incorporating kitchen herbs and medicinal herbs into your daily routine can work miracles. This can be taken in the form of a tea – Tulsi tea (sacred basil) is an adaptogenic and can often correct whatever is out of balance. Comfrey tea is especially good for bone pain. Licorice is a wonderful anti inflammatory type tea, especially for mucosa type irritation.

Homeopathy is my first love when it comes to medicine. Most cases during my career came to me when they had exhausted all other avenues – and most were seemingly incurable. Yet I saw miracle after miracle. Depending on whether it is nerve pain (Gelsemium), dental pain (Chamomilla), period pain (Cimifuga), bone pain (Arnica) – or so much more, it’s astounding to see such suffering relieved with a few drops of well chosen remedy in water!

And then we get to supplements. While there are many formulations out there specifically for pain, I have my favourite supplements whose aim is anti inflammatory. My favourite anti inflammatory is (fucoidan) – the indications range from cancer pain to arthritic pain – even unexplained pain such as fibromyalgia. By far, the purest, most effective formulation can be found in fucoidan – an intensified extract which has pain sufferers reporting improvement within days – even better long term.

And you can read on PubMed for yourself. There are actually thousands of studies into myriad health issues and inflammations. Much more is explained on this link, where you can also order at wholesale –

More here (there are other herbal antiinflammatories which are capable of addressing the inflammation rather than the symptoms caused by it).

Don’t ever feel bad for needing analgesia – but if you find that you are using it long term without improvement – or you may even find your current issue is dependent upon addiction rather than the original issue, it may be time for you to remove the inflammatory triggers and build up in your body and allow your body to heal. A life without pain is often a dream for too many people. But it could be a reality.

Sharing the truth in health care with the public - especially those in nations where it is illegal to know the truth, for those who cannot afford health care, and for those who, through chronic illness or terminal disease are desperate to know the truth. And I will use any means necessary to do so. This has cost me dearly over the years - legally, professionally, financially and personally - but each time I feel as though it's not work it, I find I HAVE to keep going. After the recent loss of our adored son in law through medical negligence, I vowed to never give up the fight that I began in orthodox medicine, then as a naturopath seeing proof that there are answers outside of medicine, outside of surgery, toxic chemicals and big pharma's control - and when my daughter almost died through medical error. It's easy for some sectors of the community to dismiss someone who walked away from orthodox medicine. It's also easy for them to dismiss anyone who has qualifications in alternative medicine, regardless of how many lives they have saved - and regardless of whether most of those lives were failed by orthodoxy. Yet spend years in between, working in medical/pharma research and really get the inside story and then watch the worms come out of the woodwork. It's an interesting conundrum to see just how people who on the surface appear to be intellectual and reasonable, all of a sudden shoot off the Richter scale of common sense - after all, there is no way on earth someone who has a sound knowledge of facts, could possibly, actually know something they don't. Regardless of how my peers see me, I will spend the rest of my life getting the truth out there. It's astounding how much free time some of these poor excuses of humanity have, and how they believe they are discovering some amazing new thing with their hard hitting 'journalism' - imagine if all that effort could actually go into something decent and worthwhile.
